Erik Torchia

Partner at One Performance and originally from Winnipeg, Erik has recently celebrated a (busy) decade in Vancouver. A dedicated father of three boys, his interests include skiing, fishing, mountain biking, and getting in the great outdoors with his family.

Education has played a pivotal role in Erik’s career. He obtained a Bachelor’s in Medical Rehab from the University of Manitoba and went on to achieve the distinguished Master’s of Clinical Sciences in Manipulative Therapy at the  Western University. Erik is recognized as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy, holds a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, and carries the designation of Registered International Sport Physiotherapist. Notably, Erik is among a select few Certified DNS Practitioners in Canada.

His unwavering commitment to knowledge acquisition is evident in a wide range of learning – focused specifically in shoulder rehabilitation, neurodynamics, and athlete development. Additionally, Erik serves as an instructor at UBC’s Physiotherapy Department.

Erik has played significant roles in both lacrosse and figure skating communities, demonstrating his passion and commitment. Currently, he serves as the Lead Therapist with SFU Lacrosse, a traveling therapist with Skate Canada, and a consultant to a variety of professional and national level athletes. His past roles included Lead Therapist roles with Vancouver Stealth, Lead Therapist Vancouver Warriors, and Chief Therapist with Xtreme Lacrosse League and Arena Lacrosse League West.

Academically, he has made contributions to the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) focusing on Posterior Shoulder Instability. Erik’s expertise extends to return-to-play pathways, managing elite athletes with shoulder and ACL/complex lower extremity injuries, and seamlessly integrating injured athletes into performance.
