ACL STRONG

The ACL Strong Program, designed and implemented by both our physiotherapists and kinesiologists, provides our athletes with everything they need in their rehabilitation following ACL reconstruction surgery.

After completing the initial stage of rehabilitation with their physiotherapist, athletes will be referred into the ACL Strong Program.

This phase of the program will be guided by the physiotherapist and carried out in the gym with our kinesiologist, and will focus on the strength and
conditioning phases of the athletes’ rehabilitation.

It will be performed in a small group training format with other athletes rehabilitating ACL injuries, and will run twice per week for an 8-week programming block.

This program is for athletes of all levels, from the recreational to the elite.

Each 8 Week Training Block Includes

• 16 one-hour small group training sessions in our gym, 2x/week, led and monitored by our kinesiologist and under the guidance of our physiotherapist; class sizes vary between 4-6 athletes ($1920 value)

• An individualized training program provided on the Train Heroic Smartphone App ($200 value)

• Eight 1-on-1 45 minute physiotherapy sessions, 1x/week ($1200 value)

• Physiologic performance testing designed specifically for ACL injuries to provide objective data on our athlete’s progress ($300 value)

• A community of dedicated athletes also undergoing ACL rehabilitation

Why is our ACL Strong Program important?

Research has shown that 30-40% of athletes do not return to their pre-injury level of sport following an ACL reconstruction. And those who do return to their sport have a 20-30% chance of re-injury within the first two years of that return.
We believe that we can improve these outcomes with our comprehensive ACL program, as it improves on traditional rehabilitation models.

What makes our ACL Program unique?

Multiple Sessions per Week: Rehabilitation following an ACL reconstruction is a very challenging process, which requires a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. By including 3 sessions per week with both physiotherapists and kinesiologists, our ACL group program is designed to ensure that our athletes are receiving and completing the volume of work required for them to return to their sports at full strength, and ready to compete.

Small Group Training: We believe strongly that training with fellow athletes who are going through similar rehab journeys is extremely helpful in providing our athletes with the team-based, motivating and supportive environment needed to successfully navigate an extended rehab program.

Testing:
Our program integrates sports science testing to evaluate and guide our athletes’ progress from one stage of their rehabilitation to the next. This criterion based approach ensures that our athletes are meeting their goals and are preparing themselves to meet the demands of their sport, and therefore reducing their risk of re-injury.

Pricing

Because the ACL Program group sessions are overseen by a physiotherapist, some insurance providers may allow the sessions to be covered under physiotherapy in an extended medical plan.

Payment can be made for the entire eight week training block at the start of the program, or a fee of $200 can be paid weekly before the start of the first session of each week, with the obligation of paying for all eight weeks in succession.

An itemized receipt can be provided weekly, or at the end of the eight week program. We are unable to bill your insurance company directly for these sessions.

There are no refunds for missed sessions. If absence is due to illness or another unforeseen circumstance, the program lead may determine that a make-up session is permitted at the end of the eight week training block, to a maximum of two make-up sessions per block.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to reach out to your physiotherapist.
