Josh grew up in Edmonton playing hockey, soccer and skiing. After moving to beautiful British Columbia just before high school Josh added lacrosse, rugby, volleyball, skateboarding and snowboarding to his list of sports. This multi-sport approach to athleticism led Josh to attending UBC to study Physical Education (curriculum development and motor learning) and Human Performance (athletic development).
After graduating in 2006 Josh began working as a strength and conditioning coach. He has worked with high school, professional and recreational adult athletes in private, group, team and return to play settings. Highlights include coaching athletes who have competed in the NLL, MLB, UFC, WHL, NCAA and Paralympics. Other professional highlights include facilitating work-integrated learning opportunities for future strength and conditioning coaches attending SFU and UBC.
Josh’s experiences with athletes goes beyond the gym to the lacrosse box and field. He was the head coach of the Delta Lacrosse Academy from 2012 to 2018 where he was responsible for developing student athletes to play Junior and Collegiate lacrosse. Josh also coached Team BC to a national championship in 2008.
With nearly 20 years of coaching athletes in a number of settings Josh believes in creating an environment that empowers the athlete to be responsible for their athletic development. Having a team of practitioners, sports coaches and strength and conditioning coaches that work together gives the athlete the best opportunity to be prepared to pursue and achieve their goals.
When Josh isn’t in the gym you can find him playing with his daughters in the park, cheering on the Oilers and playing quarterback for his touch football team.
